Nighseeing or Night Hunting

There are many creatures in New Zealand that can only be seen at night. Join our night guide and explore the nocturnal world around Zen Garden.

If you want an evening of nightseeing, you’ll discover stream banks lit with the eerie blue light of glow worms; feed native longfin eels at the creek; listen for the hoot of the morepork (native owl); and maybe spot possums up a tree.

If hunting is more your style, you can drop a line of baits into the creek to catch an eel or shoot rabbits and possums – the local farmers will be grateful!

Our guide is full of useful information about survival in the wild – you’ll find your night-time adventure truly entertaining, as well as educational.

The night experience takes around 1 ½ hours and requires a moderate level of fitness.
